Tell us a bit about yourself! How did you get started in photography?
My name is Monica Buscher and I’m a military wife and mama to 3 kids under 5, so life is super crazy at the moment 😂 How I got started in photography: I have always been the one documenting everything for my friend group, it was a natural progression towards getting my first “big” camera about 11 years ago. I was also a nanny at the time for a 1 year old girl and started practicing by chasing her around the yard taking photos. Pretty soon that family’s friends started asking me to take their photos, which I loved doing, and the rest is history!
What is your specialty — families, headshots, weddings?
I specialize in families and children, but dabble in everything just to keep it all interesting. I’m especially partial to documenting the chaos of large families.
What is the craziest thing that has happened to you at a shoot?
I once had a shoot that ended up being swarmed with mosquitos so badly that we had to leave and find a whole new location!
Coffee, tea, or hot chocolate?
Coffee, always.
How has CommonSpace helped you build your business?
I have absolutely LOVED the effortlessness of getting wintertime clients booked in a space that has fantastic light and isn’t freezing during these cold dreary months. I used to spend my winters attempting to find well lit indoor areas other than the capitol building and it was such a pain. I love that I can always count on Commonspace to be perfectly lit and provide almost limitless possibilities for different backdrops so I’m able to get a really dynamic album for every client that comes in! Thank you for this wonderful option!
