When we opened CommonSpace Studio, we always knew we wanted it to be a gathering place for creatives to meet, and grow together. So we were so thrilled to put on the studio’s first styled shoot (Covid precautions, and all, of course) this July!

Styled as a “cutie”-chic baby shower, the look was retro meets magical garden. And thanks to some incredibly amazing vendors (which I will happily be telling you more about, below), the look came together flawlessly!

And being able to witness local photographers and videographers (showcased throughout this post) working, laughing, and enjoying the space made the weeks of planning all worthwhile!

Our model was Ashley Oborny (and her sweet husband, Ross), a local real estate agent and health advocate – check her out at @ashleyoborny.tkg!

Her amazing hair and makeup was done by Alicia at Alicia’s Makeup Artistry. Alicia studied makeup artistry at the Blanche MacDonald Centre in Vancouver, B.C and worked in the Seattle area, before returning to Nebraska. She uses top of the line products and is a joy to work with!

Ashley’s dress is by Free People. Ross wore his own clothes, but that amazing mustard wool blend tie is from Amazon!

Petals to Platinum, a florist and wedding rental boutique, supplied the florals and greenery. Their dedication to providing stunning and perfect scene-setting arrangements and displays to their clients puts them in a league of their own!

Their sister site, Petals to Platinum Rentals, lent the shoot the majority of the decor and details – flatware, cake stands, goblets, candle stems, plates, vineyard chairs, and more! If you are in search of a way to immediately make your event drop jaws, look no further!

Scented candles came from Lincoln’s own Wax Buffalo!

Let’s talk sweet treats… Fair to say we have all had an iced cookie before, BUT if you haven’t tried one from Buttercup Bakery, then you are missing out on some serious tastebud-slaying goodness! Their cookies, pies, and cakes are made with the best ingredients and not only TASTE amazing, but they are SO darn cute! They were the perfect addition to our shoot (and we might have gained a few pounds, enjoying their treats, after the shoot wrapped…)!

Events (and styled shoots alike) step up their game when they bring in hand-lettered paper goods. It’s such a simple and sophisticated way to give the look of timelessness and thoughfulness to any gathering. For the shoot, Miranda of Miranda Writes created the calligraphy for our placecards, invite suite, and treat table banner.

The graphic design, and overall styling and vision behind the shoot was arranged by myself, Jessica Scott, who you’ve had the pleasure of listening to, throughout this blog post! I won’t say much about myself, except that I had a blast! There is nothing better than seeing your vision become reality, and both Nikki and I are already scheming our next studio event!

Pro tip: the juice was NOT drinkable, but it sure LOOKED GOOD and photographed beautifully!
